PORCELAIN FUSED TO METAL
PFMs are composed of a metal alloy that fits directly on the tooth, and a porcelain layer to provide the tooth shape and color. We are now using SLM (Selective Laser Melting) alloys for semi-precious (66% CoCr, 25% Pd, 9% Mo) and non-precious (88.6% CoCr) PFMs, but we still use the traditional wax and cast technique for High Noble alloys. To create the SLM metal frame, our CAD technicians design a full crown and produce an STL file. Our SLM machine prints an alloy accordingly and SLM copings are adjusted and fitted on the model. Finally, our ceramists layer Feldspathic porcelain on the SLM coping.
